Print draft feedback and learner response
Estimated current grade for print work: E
Comments and feedback:
- I appreciate these are drafts but currently this is a long way from top-level print work. You are not meeting many of the minimum requirements of the brief and it is difficult to see any evidence that you have researched professional music magazines. This ultimately will keep you in the lower grades for print work unless you put it right.
- The front cover needs a lot of work – I would look at how you are using images and text as well as going back to your research for conventions and page design. To be brutally honest, it doesn’t look like you’ve researched professional music magazine covers. In addition, you don’t meet the minimum requirements of the brief for the front cover – go back to the brief and make sure you put it right.
- The double page spread just has copied and pasted lyrics – all content needs to be 100% original so that page cannot be marked. There is no article and no conventions of double page spreads included. Again, it seems like you haven’t researched professional examples and this is the starting point for all media production work.
- When you do add the article text, check the print requirements of the brief e.g. whether something about the shoe sponsorship is required and number of images.
- For the additional page, what is it supposed to be and where would it appear in the magazine?
- If you want to move up to the higher grades you will need to meet all the minimum requirements of the brief. For example, seven original images across the pages from different photoshoots. Get a copy of the brief and work through it, ticking off what you have included and highlighting what you need to add for final drafts.
- You have some major improvements required before submitting final drafts – and as mentioned I would go back to your research and look at professional examples of music magazines before submitting final drafts.
Three bullet points to improve:
-Magazine does not meet the brief due to lack of images, Masthead, 5 cover lines.
- The magazine does not look professional
- Double page spread was not good due to the fact that they were not original.
