Preliminary exercise: Research and planning

  1) State the  song  you have chosen for your preliminary exercise. Sidhu moose wala- 47 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iU7cDCmEiUw 2) Choose at least  three  music videos similar to your concept and watch a clip or more from each. Make  bullet-point notes  on everything you watch, commenting on camerawork, editing and mise-en-scene. 3)  Write a short  music video treatment  for your extract (this is basically a script for your music video). You can  find an example of a treatment here . If you are making your real coursework then feel free to use the treatment from your summer project. Opening scene is someone breaking into the house  Rajandeep gets alerted and frantically comes down the stairs  Rajandeep runs into the room where the robber is armed with an ak-47  Robber in a freeze frame while Rajandeep starts performing to lyrics 4) Write a  shot list  containing  EVERY  shot you plan t...

Summer Project: coursework planning

  1) Research: music videos You need to write a  150-word close-textual analysis  of  SIX  music videos that will inform your production work. The music videos you analyse are up to you but focus on a different aspect of media language for each one (see guidance below).   Music videos Music Video 1: Narrative How is narrative used in the music video and what impact does this have on the audience? Can you apply any narrative theories to the story in the music video? Video: ED Sheeran, shape of you. (184 words) This music video uses narrative to show how they fall in love. However later what happens in this music video is that ed Sheeran is no longer seen with the 'girlfriend' meaning that they probably broke up. Because of this heartbreak the viewers can see that ed Sheeran is working harder like he has an opponent coming up. Later in this music video we van see that ed Sheeran actually does have a opponent who seems to be this big sumo wrestler. When w...

Coursework: Preliminary exercise feedback and LR

  1) Type up your teacher's feedback   in full  plus a summary of the comments you received from other students in the class. As a narrative opening I think this works. However, the confrontation is unconvincing and would need re-shooting. Consider the colour grading/post-production – it feels a bit light and domestic, not really gritty or dangerous? Having said that, there is some good tension created in the first 20 seconds. It’s just the two characters together that doesn’t quite work. The brief is music video so you will need another scene / location / performance element for the full video. Needed footwear element and brand identity of your artist in there – both are part of the brief. Or was the close up of the shoes being put on covering that? Brand didn’t seem clear unless I missed it. students: majority of leaner responses were: www:  -Good showcase of shoe sponsorship. -Variety of camera shots used. EBI: - Some shots were a bit too quiet(should've added bac...

'Ignite presentation learner response'

  1) Type up your feedback   in full   including the ratings out of five for each of the categories.  Research- 1 music video/ magazine concept- 3 language: terminology and theory -3 representations- 2 audience and industry- 2 delivery- 2 total out of 30- 13  WWW & EBI: -really interesting genre- need to check if it will fit the mainstream genre. -Good knowledge of the genre and original artist -context/props may need some charges-weapons are a problem! Think about this when you develop your planning.  -some good points about lighting and camerawork. -Do you mean jump cuts or fast paced editing? -Interesting ideas for music magazine but again you need to make sure it meets the brief. -Audience- you can't target everyone ! Need to check the brie and develop this for your statement of intent -Nike shoe sponsor works but need to think about audience and brief in more detail. -Delivery loud and confident clear speaking. Just needed more rehearsal and less t...
